What is the point of spending heaps of time finding data, cleaning, prepping, building dashboards, validation results and then only to fall flat at the very last stage; presentation.

Tableau is as much about telling a clear and concise story as it is about technical design. In fact, I wager that those with lesser technical ability, but a better comprehension in explaining results do far better in the industry.

That's because most stakeholders you will deal with, are non-data people. They also don't care or see the preparation that you go through. They only see the final result and will judge your performance based off that.
