Here is my first honest impression / review of the Pimax 5K XR OLED VR headset. We dig deep to see how the Pimax performs as well as compare it to some of the bigger VR headsets of the day - the Valve Index and the Oculus Rift S.

The new 5K XR is the new OLED panel version of the wide FOV Pimax family of headsets with deeper blacks, better color reproduction and higher contrast. This, combined with 170 degrees of wide FOV and high resultion 1440p panels, makes it to maybe of the most sophisticated enthusiast VR headset today. In this Pimax 5K XR first impression review, I will let you know all about its pros and cons, its advantages and also it's downsides.

I have a Vive Pro and I play a lot of elite dangerous I've been eyeballing this headset for a bit, I've tried the LCDs and they are no go for me I cannot stand the washed out colors and dull gray blacks to me the pro is actually beautiful but that field of view with an OLED screen is very tempting. I've seen through the lens videos which does not do justice for screen door because I do not notice the screen door much at all with my Pro I think it hides behind the vibrant colors in blacks.

Thanks for the reveiw, i've been interested to know what the deal is with these headsets. i got a vive cosmos for my birthday last year for dirt 2.0 and other racing games, really pleased with it, but excited for the next big leap in headsets, whatever that may be.

Amazing reviews! I really have a hard time choosing between Pimax 5k and Oculus Quest 2! I cant really decide! I know that Oculus quest 2 is half the price of Pimax, but I am willing to pay if Pimax has a better screen/ color/resolution and overall, but I have never tried neither of those. What do you recommanded? is Pimax 5k much better? do you really see a big difference? if not I may consider getting Oculus quest 2.

Does this headset have real *optical* IPD adjustment or only software setting that does nothing for optics but just renders the image in a bit different location on the panel?

Really good honest review, but you need an upgrade i got a 3090 for myself at Christmas and it is amazing for vr

I'm waiting for an index with oled screens, that would be my ultimate. I love my vive pro because of the rich colors and blacks and just can't justify trading it off till there's a true better all around headset. Every one that comes out has some cool new feature but some big trade off. It's very frustrating.
