Preload is typically measured by how much you PRELOAD the spring using collars. IE if my springs free length is 180mm, and I compress the spring to the length of 175mm (using collars), that is 5mm of preload. What you did is safe and will function. But that isn’t a quantitative way to measure or “to do the preload”.

Spin it til its kinda tight. Sounds pretty scientific. Pretty sure each manufacturer has actual specs on how to do this. Why make a how to video when you are making it up and don't actually know how to do it right?

Bro wtf are you talkin about obviously this is your first time you shouldn’t even have to touch the top collar either it came with preload already accounted for or while off the car you set preload and keep it like that theres no need for extra work smh 😂😂😂
