🔑 Key Ideas in Proportions 4 – Setting Up and Solving Proportions | Math Fluency

Lesson 4 builds upon Lesson 3, and students continue setting up and solving proportions using the Magic Formula.

Remember that when solving a proportion, you need to know three of the four values in order to figure out the missing value.

Problems D, E, H, and I appear not give students the three values that they need (only one value is given). Students must use their prior knowledge about key relationships to figure out the two missing values. The relationships in this lesson are:

• 12 inches in 1 foot
• 24 hours in 1 day
• 60 minutes in 1 hour

Students should use hanging zeroes in Box G to solve 2500 ÷ 5.
Remember to have students box their final answers as shown in the answer key for better visibility.
