On April 17, 1986 at a little after midnight, during on Home Box Office showing of The Falcon and the Snowman, right after the film’s opening credits, this message appeared on the screen. Who was Captain Midnight and why did he illegally jam HBO’s signal with strange message and was he justified in doing so? Let’s find out!

I know I am late to the show, but thanks for posting this. I am filming a documentary and I wanted to interview Mr. MacDougal for a segment. I contacted his Pensacola, Florida business and he initially agreed to an interview. This was in 2018 and I have not heard from him since. However, in summer 2022 I confirmed he was alive and well at the time.

This is the second time I’ve seen our KPRC’s old News Star 2 satellite truck (3:02) in reference to the Captain Midnight/HBO incident. Why? We’re in Houston what’s the connection? This happened somewhere up north
