myself as a senior software engineer, i would not ask internals of Java. What i would ask the type of projects the person worked on and the challenges he or she faced and how they solved the issues. If some issue is reported by the user or business in running application in production, how would they approach to solve it and some java8 questions and spring boot related.

Why there is no counter questions? I don't feel positive with these type of interviews. This candidate is giving all confusing answers. Counter questions are actually good. It feels like a discussion not interview.

Manual garbage collection can be done by system.gc(). Didn't understand the explanation given in the interview
