Want to know how to make it in the music industry as an artist, band, or engineer? Then you must realize that it's not about how talented you are, or how hard you work, or where you live.

There are two fundamental strategies that you must employ immediately and consistently in order to see progress. And because no one seems to be talking about these concepts, I call them secrets.

If you do these two things that I explain in the video, your career and life will be rewarded. If you don't, not much will change.

I kind of disagree. I would say chose carefully the people you serve without any contracts. Of course collaborate with the cool guys, but many managers and influential people in music business count on underpaid musicians who think they build their network when serving them.
This rule may apply for workers in Studio etc. but if you are an artist, you should not make any big compromises for others! Sometimes there can be an coexistence and symbiotic relationship, but mostly everyone is on his/her own and in the end the first rule stated here is above it all: Be seen.

Phil Moufarrege sent me here and I'm grateful for that.
These "secrets" are actually social tips that can help your carrier in any field you're focusing on. You should always zoom out and see the big picture of your life, don't focus on this one thing like promoting your cd or getting gigs. Be attentive to your surroundings.
Thank you Graham.

That's some of the best advice you've ever given!! I really got a lot off of that!!

I'm a big Beatles fan - and have noticed over the years that they had an incredible reputation for being generous and giving during their career. Instead of being hateful and scared of their opposition -- they actually threw parties and did favors for the various bands around them. When the Monkees came to London -- the Beatles had a welcome party for them. Lennon and his first wife Cynthia actually had Mike Nesmith and his wife stay at their house while they were in England.

Really good advice, Graham. Nicely done, man!!!

I keep this video as a reoccurring event in my calendar. I watch this every month to keep myself from becoming prideful. This is humbling advice and I couldn't appreciate the help Graham has given me more!

This week ive reached out to help with potential masters on a friends label, and reached out to another friend to help with their Alzheimer's event. Also locally making note to attend another show in week and a half to get my face back in the scene here. Loved this video Graham. Been watching these for a while, and this is not only super on point, but exactly what I personally needed to hear, cause its exactly what I HAVEN'T been doing. I have been that selfish producer/dj looking to strike my gigs back up, but youre 100% right. No one is gonna do that unless you scratch their back first. Big ups dude!

Something I'm going to do this week is attend a workshop in LA for music placement and licensing! I'm always trying to help my clients and artists I work with get there music out there in better ways... so the more I know about this, the more I can help them and share the ropes with others. So.. this workshop 1.) I'll be visible to others in the industry 2.) help with my clients passion and careers.

work on my online presence and I have been offering this concept in the hair industry for ever with great rewards and applying this to music makes it easy to continue on a path of service. Very positive!

Thank you Graham! So much love for you and all you do! Thank you!
So, 1.1 Ask a coffee shop in town if they currently do, or are interested in pursuing live music at their shop. 1.2 go to local church and hand out information to the office about my studio and how i'd like to help local artists make music.

2.1 help my friend who is the worship leader at my church get his studio set up to be able to record.

thanks again Graham! much love, sincerely, Matt Aram

I do a live Facebook show every other week for my friends and family. I take requests (as much as I'm able to) and play for about an hour and a half. I don't post a PayPal link, and about the only thing I do is let people know about upcoming events and things. They started off slow, but I'm averaging 1000 to 2000 views a week doing it! And taking requests and learning songs that people ask me for REALLY makes them feel special. Not only that, but I am adding SO MUCH to my repertoire, and attendance at shows is rising as well. All it costs me is some of my time.

I love your channel! I have learned so much on here that I use all the time!

Great video Graham, This has totally been my mindset since I started and I'm beginning to see the fruits of my servant attitude. I am first and foremost a professional musician of 20+ years and have been into the home-recording thing since the days of the Tascam 4-track but have recently gotten into engineering and mixing in a big way. I started a small recording business offering the first demo free for all customers. That includes all tracking, mixing and mastering. Well now I'm seeing people respond to my Facebook and Soundcloud pages for my studio and have hired me to produce several projects for them. I'm now getting paid to engineer ! People haven't even asked for the free demo when they contact me, they just like my attitude and approach and are interested in working with someone like that. It's definitely the way to go in the music industry because it's so much more who you know and more importantly who knows and likes you than what you know. I love your videos and have learned and progressed so much because of the knowledge you share, keep up the good work. God Bless

Great advice brother! This week I am striving to be “seen” by interviewing you and am seeking to serve you in the sense of helping others to know of you. In turn this will serve my entire audience both those that do know about you and those that do not.

Keep up the awesome work man!
