Ben Nevis Summit Hike Scotland
Показать описание
Taking on the UK's biggest mountain!!!
Starting off at the visitors centre we cross the bridge that marks the start of the iconic Ben Nevis route to the top. We follow the path up through some farming fields not long after you can see the landscape change from farm land to mountainous moorland. Turning left we follow the stream up the valley.
Once at the fork in the road we take the steeper but more direct route that re-joins the a a beautiful waterfall. It is at this point where the landscape changes again becoming very rocky with little greenery growing.
Following the path, that is very well used and prominent, we continue to climb this unique hill while at the same time trying to take in the fantastic views that only get better the higher up you climb.
Nearing the top, the landscape changes for the final time becoming a snowy winter wonderland with little visibility as if this is the last defence of the mountain warning the many hikers that this is like no other mountain you may of climbed before. There are stone markers guiding you to the peak because of the cliffs on both sides.
Once at the top, we take some pictures and wait hoping for the cloud to lift but we have no such luck. This just gives us another excuse to come back. So we start our long journey back down the infamous Ben Nevis.
On our way down, we stop at Loch Meall for a quick "swim". Well it is a paddle for me as I need to improve my cold water swimming skills as it is meant to be extremely good for you. This is where I say bye from me (Rob) and bye from Another Day Another Walk.
