Summary:

1st or 2nd year: go for anything DSA first or Development first you have ample amount of time. Shifting from DSA to Development will be comparatively easier but learning Development first will gain your interest in coding because DSA takes time and focus to build logic.

3rd or 4th year students: If you want to get placed in MAANG companies then go for DSA first.
If you want to get placed in non-MAANG companies then go for development first.

Note : MAANG like companies means top MNC's like Meta, Microsoft, Netflix, Google, Amazon, Uber, Adobe, Atlassian, GS etc

I am currently in my third year of college. Most third-tier college students have no idea what they should do in their 1st and 2nd year of college. The same scenario happened to me. I did nothing in my 2yrs of college. Now I am clear about my objectives. This question was bothering me at the start of my third year: should I start with Data Structures and Algorithms (DSA) or Development? Then I started to learn DSA. I'm working hard to improve my logic-building skills.

In opinion, we learn DSA must because it helps to improve our logic building and problem solving skill. DSA is more difficult then development.

If you don't have deep passion for development and targeting for a good intern or placement.
Being a third year grad at IIT and seeing the intern scenario simply go for DSA, puzzles and probability+ computer system etc.
After all these do basic projects .
U will be able to sit for both sde and quant roles .
