Although it's fairly close in style, the Durban City Hall is not an exact copy of the Belfast City Hall at all. During the period that it was built (1905) the Edwardian Baroque style was popular in architecture, and since the offer to design the Durban City Hall was extended to architects both in South Africa and in England, it's not surprising that the building would resemble other buildings of the same style. At best, one can say that the Durban City Hall is inspired by the Belfast City Hall; both beautiful buildings.
