Non-invasive ventilation strategies in COVID-19 – sharing experiences
Our second evidence forum will focus on non-invasive ventilation (NIV).
Many patients hospitalised with COVID-19 require respiratory support. However, not all need invasive mechanical ventilation. A range of other options for respiratory support are available, including standard oxygen therapy via a face mask, high-flow nasal oxygen, continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP), and bi-level positive airway pressure (BiPAP).
Published cohort studies show that a range of ventilatory strategies are used in COVID-19-but there is no consensus on which is best. Which type of respiratory support, in which patients, and at what stage of the disease is most effective in reducing the risk of progression to Invasive mechanical ventilation and/or death?

To share experiences of different ventilation strategies in COVID-19.
To identify key outstanding questions on optimal ventilation strategies in COVID-19.
