You forgot to say, you have to hit the ball straight. If you hit it with a spin, it won't work.

He alluded to it but I was hoping he'd show how ball would go in from anywhere on the table. As long as ball's path goes directly through one focus, it'll go through other one. Disregarding spin and very low and high velocities of course

You can just put spin on it by hitting the left or right side of the ball.

Fun fact: It actually doesn't reflect perfectly, because the cushions change the angle slightly. Professional pool players account for this change when playing. That is also why if you watch the end of this short, it doesn't go directly into the hole but to the side of it.
