Seamus believing the paper over a friend he has known for four years was pretty pathetic. Not to mention the times his classmates have doubted/mistrusted Harry only to realise he was a good guy (the parseltongue incident in Chamber of Secrets comes to mind). You would think they would have realised by now that Harry is trustworthy.

I definitely would not have forgiven Seamus for a while, even after he apologised.

Something that the movies failed to mention is one of the main reasons why no one believed Harry Potter's claim that Voldemort had returned. When Rita Skeeter wrote that article about Harry Potter when he competed in the Triwizard Tournament she exposed his ability to speak Parseltongue to The Wizarding World. That was one of the main reasons why everything he said was discredited, that and everyone didn't want to believe that a second Wizarding war was bound to start.

In the books Seamus was reluctant to tell Harry at first, then got progressively angrier afterwards. It was only after he insulted his mother that Seamus got really upset
