NORTHBOUND 2021

Todd Scharf, a lifelong spey fishing guide, relocates his business and family to the northern frontier of British Columbia to chase one of the most sought after fish - the Steelhead. At an early age, Todd was obsessed with Steelhead and could not veer away from the inevitable fact that hunting for them would be his lifelong career. He decided to move to Terrace to chase the biggest and baddest salmonid species to open up a new door of adventure for his clients that he considers family. 10 years later, he has settled into his new environment and understands the water he fishes better than anyone. The sacrifice he made to move up north has paid off as he is constantly finding new opportunities in the unknown waters of the remote northern frontier of British Columbia. Todd now questions himself on if the reason for moving north wasn’t a pull from the fish but perhaps an escape from the craziness of the urban world.

I finally when my steelheading January this year(2023) and on my second run I connected with a 32” wild Buck. It changed me as an angler. I’m a guide who owns his own outfitter, I’m a filmmaker, and I’m a life long obsessed angler that chases fish in all water, but in all of that, I’ve never connected with such a crazy experience with Nature like that Steelhead. It’s long wild journey to come home from its birth place to the middle of Idaho and he took my tiny fly. Amazing.

Really a great video that brought back great memories of years gone by....70's-80's.... the Morice, Bulkeley, Kispiox, Copper, Skeena and one day 11 steelhead hit the beach for me in the same pool (dirty water) (Suskwa River). When the B.C. mainland froze up I would hop on a ferry to Queen Charlotte Island. Spent two full winters there fishing for steelhead camped in a tent on the Yakoon river. Had a14 fish day on that river that I will never forget. You and your wife made a great decision!!

You get a 10 on your video. Started this level of zen last year at 68. That is when I fish I fly. When I'm tieing em up l wonder how I could have not done it this way for years. Your conversation was good. You were able to articulate how there's no real words for a feeling of how a wild thing picks you. Good stuff

I’m a steelhead virgin, only salty surf Skagit fly angler 365, never fish for SHead and I never was interested to chase one of those amazing bucks on the fly, I’m about to change my thoughts after watching this amazing clip.
