2:07 "If there is a ball on the court, and a no ball on the court, a blind kid on the court has a 50-50 chance of picking up the no ball and just throwing air into the hoop, and so, in effect, we will reduce the dunks of that blind kid by 50%."

Lamprey is a very expensive delicatessen in France, Portugal, Spain, Baltic countries, Sweden, Finland, etc. One of the dishes that was served during Queen Elizabeth II coronation was a Lamprey pie. Just fish them and export to Europe or tell the Chinese about it and they will move to the great lakes and start the business.

Let me tell you that we eat lampreys in Portugal and it is delicious! it tastes just like meat. we add red wine and garlic and it's usually boiled with rice. It's also an expensive dish because the catch of lampreys is from january to april because that's when they come from the sea to rivers to lay their eggs. So you can imagine how it feels to see all this waste...

I was swimming in a small pond in norway when i encountered these creatures. I was diving along this pipe underwater where i saw a 10 inch lanprey sucked onto the pipe, it was so terrifying. I dont feel safe now knowing these things exist

The thing is in the UK and EU. Lamprey are protected species or something like that. In Hull, where I live we have the river Hull. Hull was a great fishing port, one of the largest. In the River Hull there are many trawler wrecks. Lamprey have invaded these wrecks and are preventing the council from removing the wrecks to dredge the River Hull.

"It should be noted that after years of study in Lake Champlain, the Great Lakes, and other places where sea lamprey are controlled by using lampricides, fisheries managers have concluded that the lampricides have little or no known permanent effect on populations of non-target species present in the treatment areas."

I realize nothing can be 100%, but if every fisher in these areas say it only affects the lampreys, it's probably true. The chemical is for the best.

"But even in the Great Lakes, lesser-known native lampreys are more ecologically beneficial than many people realise. Some transport nutrients from the lakes into rivers, which ultimately provides the invertebrates that feed game species like Atlantic salmon. They clean the gravel when they spawn. And their filter-feeding larvae accumulate the waste we put into the water. The natives are overwhelmingly beneficial to the ecosystem, unlike the sea lamprey which has been extremely harmful.

But even the most anti-lamprey anglers might change their mind about the fish in light of their value for medical research...studying lampreys offers enormous potential health benefits."
