Have you ever watched the Beverly Hillbillies and wondered, what if the reverse happened? Instead of country folk living the suburban socialite life, what if pampered city slickers moved to a fixer-upper in the sticks? Well, Green Acres was the place to be… But what does this lighthearted show have to do with a NASA tragedy, and why was it canceled after six very successful seasons seasons?

I’m your host Nostalgic Nick and fact-finding is the life for me. If you enjoy our rustic reunion, be sure to give it a thumbs up and subscribe to the channel so you catch our next trip down memory lane.

Being a US Marine we have all the Respect in the world for Eddie Albert he was awarded the Bronze Star with Combat "V" for his actions during the invasion of Tarawa in November 1943, when, as the coxswain of a Coast Guard landing craft, he rescued 47 Marines who were stranded offshore (and supervised the rescue of 30 others), while under heavy enemy machine-gun fire. That's a TRUE Hollywood HERO not the crap we see today .. OORAH Eddie you shall live on in the history books of the US Marines Forever

My dad worked on the sitcom 'Green Acres' - all seasons as a #80 Grip & Dolly Grip. It was produced at General Service Studios, Hollywood - a lot of CBS shows were shot there. When the 1st season ended, some of the props were being replaced - such as about 24' of 6' sections of gray picket fence. . .which ended up on our property line!
He also worked on 'Beverly Hillbillies', 'Petticoat Junction', 'Lost in Space' along with a few others at that location. There was a fake steam locomotive 'static' prop - full size built entirely out of wood, mainly Balsa because it was light weight. That prop sat there outside the soundstages in the elements for years until the weathering took its toll and it was eventually scrapped!

Mr. Haney was my absolute favorite, in fact, I was able to imitate him throughout high school. Fast-forward to 2011, I was in a pawn shop buying fishing gear and was talking like "Mr. Haney", the store owner was laughing so hard, he said to the salesman, "Just give it to him!". I was also invited back to the shop anytime. The owner had tears in his eyes from laughter. I was so happy others remembered the crazy-zany salesman from one of the best comedies ever made.

The episode I can't get out of my mind is the one where Eva/Lisa makes pan cakes by filling the whole griddle with batter and then punches perfect round cakes with a cookie cutter. Meanwhile the tractor engine has blown a head gasket and will be down indefinitely because no one can get the part. Then they realize that the pancake discards are the exact shape as a flat head gasket and they fix the tractor thanks to her bad cooking.

This show was wayyy ahead of its time. I loved every second of it, from when they first aired until today! Glad this
one is still around and we can still dream of Hooterville :) Does anyone remember the "Hooterville Rutabagas' episode
where they launched Lisa up in a hot air balloon and she dropped rutabagas across the county to promote the crop :)
Good times!

Wish I could go back in time to those good 'ol days, tv was great and the music was great, I grew up in the 60's and 70's, and I sure miss those times, it's fun to reminisce !!

I still watch Green Acres and The Beverly Hillbillies every chance I get. They just don't make hilarious shows like these anymore. They take me right back to my childhood, and memories of growing up in a small town where everyone knew each other. It's sad that so many 'reality shows' have replaced these iconic comedies of the past. Maybe it's one of the reasons our once 'great' country is so divided these days. We all need to laugh a little more, and realize that we're all in this mess together. So, try to be happy, and lets all do our best to help each other out. Especially the old, the poor, and the sick.. Hank Kimball said it best... "Like my grandfather always used to say, 'Age is just how old you are"..

These shows were fun. No, not that sophisticated or critically acclaimed, but lots of fun. And that is worth a lot.

I really liked Green Acres. It was a funny, clever show, with unexpected turns. And, of course, sweet, effervescent Eva Gabor was never hard to look at.

I didn't watch it until it came as in syndication in the 70's. One of the most brilliant shows ever written, and the actors were just perfect. The idea that Oliver wanted to live there but Lisa better understood the town folk was just so damn funny. Mr. Haney and Kimball were favorites but everyone was so perfect for their role. And the idea of Arnold, LOL!!

Green Acres was cutting edge when it came out in the fall of 1965. First season for color programming on CBS!
My favorite Petticoat Junction episode was the Christmas special when they decorated the train and went out caroling on Christmas Eve. Such sweet memories!

🤭 All of these old shows are absolute classics today. Made during the Golden years of television 📺. Sadly 😥 we will never see their like again. At least we can enjoy watching them, for many more years to come in re_runs....

*Born in 1957, I was blessed to enjoy all of my favorite newly run C.B.S. t.v. shows seen above, believe it or not, I still sing, of course to myself the Green Acres tune once in a blue moon, again, thank you for presenting my childhood memories...* 🌴🤗👍

Miss those shows ☹️. Things use to be funny and now they’re not. Can’t pick just on, because I watched them all growing up. Wholesomeness is missed. Thanks for the memories 🥰🥰

Loved the show. One of the episodes had Oliver marking all the kitchen appliances with a number so Lisa could only plug in a sum. She brought all her top dollar appliances but was limited to a combination. I can relate back when. All the actors played their parts well. This show was a jewel.
