Photoshop Illustrator Tries Procreate For The First Time

Well I finally joined the club and bought an iPad so that I can use Procreate! As a Photoshop illustrator I thought it would be fun to share the first time I ever used Procreate with you so that you can enjoy my struggles. This video is an extra one for this week to celebrate reaching 2000 subscribers here on YouTube, thanks so much for your support!

I loved this video. It makes me feel a little better for feeling so confused with Procreate myself! I got it a while ago and sort of tried but got frustrated by the fact that I couldn’t produce what was in my mind’s eye like you mentioned you had that same feeling in the video. I laughed a lot, just because I remembered my first time. You were braver than I. Probably because I never even used Photoshop. Oh and that’s the little detail that I’m learning to draw now as well. I use a matte screen protector. I don’t have access to Paperlike here. I tested the silicone tip and I really hated.

Such a great job!! You can select all the layers at once by swiping each layer to the right. To move the bee closer to the flower you just have to tap the laso (sp?) and select freehand and draw around the bee then tap the arrow and move him. You really did such an amazing job for just having your first go 🤗

This was so much fun to watch I was rooting for you the whole time! you did SO much better than me on my first try lol. A couple shortcuts that will make your life easier: 1) tap with two fingers anywhere on the screen to undo 2) tap with three to redo 3) tap and hold on your canvas to activate eyedropper. And your work is automatically saved so can close it any time without losing progress. Love watching you work! ❤️

Fun video, took me back to the first time I used Procreate. Definitely worth finding some tutorials since theres tons of functionality thats just a little bit hidden away. Tap with two fingers for undo, three for redo. Tap and hold for the eye dropper without needing to use the left hand sidebar. Swipe down with three fingers for copy/paste to bring in external images (eg photos from the web, that kind of thing). Can do hue, saturation, brightness adjustment with the adjustment tools as well

Ahhh! I loved this! I really think having a good understanding of Photoshop helped you. I'm a fairly basic Photoshopper (same as you started with editing art) and I also just bought an iPad (my first apple product!) to get into digital illustration because doing digital art in Photoshop seems so scary.

My first experience in procreate was not as productive as yours 😂
... I've now been using it for 2 weeks and watched a million tutorials to streamline my workflow and you still taught me something 😂

This video made me giggle in all the right ways! I was a long time Apple user with a lot of Photoshop experience but very little drawing experience the first time I tried and had a similar experience (though knowing Apple products helped). It’s crazy to me how intuitive Procreate is when you start using it and how efficiently they packed in a large amount of Photoshop features in such a simplified way.
