There was a great poll where conservatives were asked what percentage of the population they think minority group exist and it was embarrassing but a great example of disinformation and scapegoating work if you are loud enough.

YouGov, a United Kingdom-based polling company, asked 1, 000 Americans in 2022 to estimate the size of various minority groups. "If you had to guess, what percentage of American adults are transgender?" one of the questions asked.

The average response was 21%, or 1 in 5 Americans. This overestimate was not an outlier, as respondents consistently overestimated the size of other minority groups, guessing that 27% of people are Muslim (the reality is 1%), or that 41% of Americans are Black (the reality is 12% to 13%).
Truth has to louder.

As a trans woman myself, I appreciate your efforts to let the truth be known about an aspect of the community that has oftentimes been lied about and manipulated. Unfortunately, from experience, I know firsthand that accurate information hasn't really mattered to the people that have chosen to be hateful. The mere existence of trans people AT ALL- even if there were just 10 of us in a society of 330 million people- has been enough for them to have been completely outraged, and have wanted us to be denied humane rights and treatment simply on the basis that they feel we are wrong for being ourselves. They would much rather we fake and lie about our identity to fit into their ideology than for us to be open and honest about our truth while they respect us for who we are, regardless of what they agree with or don't. Ironically, respect has been the thing they fail the most at with giving unto others, but have had the nerve to complain about the most when it's been denied unto them.

As democracies have enlarged the voter franchise, the wealthiest have come to understand and fear that a fully enfranchised citizenry will use their political power to democratize the economy. In a democratized economy, everyone would gain in wealth, but the wealthiest's share of the whole would be decreased, and along with it, their political power. Therefore, the politics of division piting one segment of the electorate against another to keep them in disunity and from focusing on the economic inequality and the political inequality it helps maintains.

We lost. Rationalizing may help deal with the reality, but the Democratic Party gave too much emphasis on trans people. Supporting everyone is part of the foundation of the Democratic Party but too much focus on one group or another leads to ignoring others.
