Wow, this is so true. I am now 40 years old and I don't talk about my life, stopped telling my stories, stopped solving their problems. It was tough but I stopped. People like wallowing in self pity, now I just say "wow it sounds like you are going through a lot" " you are a tough person you can make it through this." And I leave it at that. I'm done helping people. Now I lie through my teeth and tell them what they want to hear cause people hate the truth. I stopped giving advice until I'm asked for it...which never happens😅

urgh this got me in the feels! This has been my whole week! Am I the only one who feels dragged into bitter withdrawal when people do this? Tash stop being a know-it-all (I was only trying to share something I found uber interesting and I was bursting to share it with someone thinking that they'd share the same exuberance....er nope), Tash stop trying to fix everything, leave people be (well don't come to me with your problem if you don't want me to help you fix it....unless you commence with the premise....please don't solve, just comfort me while I vent), Tash why are you always so happy all the time (secretly gives the miserable wanker a one fingered salute), Tash why are you showing off (erm I'm just standing at the photocopier surreptitiously dancing to music in my head...that happens to be metal, it ain't the samba sheesh). Honestly... all of these are accurate. It is ok to want to brighten other people's day but everyone has the right to be gloomy and dwell in sadness. it is something that we need to accept and take a step back. It is ok to want to show people their potential, but we should not insist that they do something about it. everyone is entitled to their choices, and if they want to spend their life at the bank callcenter and not actualize themselves, so be it. we need to let it go. and about how interesting we are, well it is ok to play it down from time to time.. it's not that we are better than others because we are more adventurous. let's be good listeners and let other people shine.
the only one we can't help is our incredible attractiveness... for that one there is no cure.

Omggg this made my heart happy. I was feeling cringe over an afternoon where I was so excited I interrupted alot of threw out those " random adventure /hyperfocus stories" while people were talking about work, and returned to talking about work after my outbursts. This helped me feel less dumb.
