Discovering oracle bone inscriptions, a 3,000-year-old Chinese script

These are the earliest known Chinese writing. They seem totally unintelligible to the untrained eye. But even after 3,000 years, these characters shed light on how the Chinese language came into being, and reveal clues to the origins of one of the world's most difficult languages to learn.
