Interesting study on probiotics and FMRI! Obviously a lot of folks who suffer from anxiety and nervous disorders need their gut healed first. Thanks for sharing this info!

I'm a 53 yr old male. About 5 years ago I started to develop anxiety. It would first manifest itself through a gassy feeling in my stomach. I would get nervous and a strange fear of things would enter my mind. I would take anti-gas pills and it would miraculously go away at first. This kept up for about four years. The anxiety came only occasionally, maybe evey other month or so. It started to be more frequent and the anti-gas pills wouldn't help much. Then about a year ago 6/2014 the anxiety hit me hard. Anxiety attacks, paranoia, agoraphobia. ..
at a time in my life when all was going well, as a matter of fact- very well. I could feel it starting in my gut. I was a basket case. Went to a highly recommended doctor (ex surgeon) that also would use natural methods first, if the patient preferred that. He recommended an SSRI (?). I said no even though I was very desperate, yet I knew being on these would make my anxiety worse for I would know that when I was between episodes of anxiety I would attribute the healing to the pills and would see myself as dependant. I started taking B12 supplements as my blood work came back excellent except for low B12 (along with many other supplements) which has (when low) neurological affects. At this time 6/2015 I am feeling very good, like my old self (I should mention here that I have always been an extremely happy and upbeat person. I used to tell people God has given me a "happy gene", never depressed or unnatural anxiety). Depression also came along later, after a few years of the anxiety. I am hoping that whatever it was/is that has blindsided me is over. The point of me writing this post is- I have always attributed my anxiety coming from my gut, always! At first I couldn't find much to confirm this but now there is much more written on the gut-brain connection. I will get Brain Maker and apply the doctor's wisdom. I am hoping this will be the answer.
