Aquarium Filter is Loud and Noisy? Help

Your aquarium filter may be getting loud due to the fact that your water level has lowered in the water exiting your filter is farther away to the surface. You can make your aquarium filter, less loud by raising the water level and having the distance between the filter and the surface less. It’s a better idea to have the water level higher so there’s less pressure for the filter to pull the water into it.

Products:

Another reason your aquarium filter is noisy is due to the fact that it may just be a cheap brand. The higher quality more expensive filters are built with better components, and are less noisy. Some of the cheaper filters are going to be more loud and cheaper built.

You can also add a DIY diverter at the end of your aquarium filter output. You’re essentially creating a longer output, so the water has less distance to run to the surface, therefore making less noise.

The sound of running water is relaxing and soothing but the vibrations are not

Yes you can clean the impeller on a tidal. Very easy to do so. Very high quality pump.

I like the running water sound but hate the sound of the pump. I have an AquaClear and it’s definitely better than the first one I got, that was awful and probably traumatised my shrimp.

hold on, when you're suggesting raising the water level, are you talking about the noise of the water falling, or the noise of the machine itself ?

I seen the Aquaclear on the thumbnail and had to click, those filters are good till they start going bad, then they’re just terrible. I’ve had tons of hob filters over the thirty years in the hobby and the best I’ve had are the cheap ones Walmart used to sell, don’t remember the brand but they lasted the longest about 15 yrs with virtually no problems, Aquaclear hob’s usually lasted about two to three years before it’s time to replace it. I’m running a Aqueon now on a 55gal for a little over a year and so far I haven’t had any problems with it, not the greatest but it does filter and move’s some water.

Start it without the filters in. Then once its running slide the filters in place..this made ours run quietly.

Secret is wait for the impeller to slime up… Don’t clean the impeller or it will get louder you want the impeller to get caked with slime so it acts as a cushion and quietens

Thinking of getting an aquarium and I don't have an issue with the running water sound, but that humming or buzzing sound at the start of the video, what is that? Is it normal? Because that would make me go insane since I would have the tank in my living room where I spend most of my hour at home.

After several attempts at dealing with the filter, i noticed that it is actually from the Tank's lid... Placing my hand on the lid stops the vibrating buzzing noise

My fluval 70 hob is super loud and sloshing it seems like the water isn’t being fully sucked through. I’ve cleaned out the motor and everything but I’m at a loss

Aquaclear impeller shafts wear out and need to be replaced. I replaced my Aquaclear impeller shafts once a year.
