More like he desperately needed a proven DM and he didn't get his first choice and was told he could have Casemiro.

This culture of calling a player one of a manager's signings just because they come in while they are manager is just nuts. ETH had a threadbare squad with massive gaps in multiple positions - He'll take the best player those who actually make the deals can get him to plug those holes. That doesn't mean ETH ever said "Go get me Casemiro" - If anything, it seemed to be common knowledge he wanted De Jong more than ANYONE, and didn't get him.
