The only weaknesses the Yankees have are right side of the infield defense, they aren't aggressive enough stealing with the guys they have who can do it. And they walk too many batters.

Other than that, they've got great defense everywhere, a fluid and dynamic lineup that can do some damage top to bottom, an exceptional rotation despite not having their best pitcher available. Outside of a couple recent struggles, the bullpen has largely been dominant when it came to holding leads and securing Ws. Their are guys on the cusp of the majors who are performing great like Dominguez, Peraza, Beeter. There's an injury to a starter and their emergency call up goes 5 allowing 2 earned, 3 total runs. They lead the league in ERA and OPS. Fifth in average, third in runs, first in batting average against and h/9 allowed. They have the top 2 MVP candidates, a top CYA and ROY candidate, you could give comeback player of the year to Gil, Stanton or Rodon. Trevino has shown what he can do when he's healthy, and like his first year with the team he hasn't been hurting them on offense but has been clutch in big spots and has some big two out hits that led to runs. Cashman once again brings in a meh bullpen arm and has them become great in Luke Weaver.

This team is the most complete a Yankee team as there's been since at LEAST 2009. But I really think this team is better than that one overall. They've got the edge at closer, and they've got some studs in the rotation, bullpen and lineup. But the combo of Volpe, Soto, Judge, Verdugo and the surprisingly productive Stanton is too much. Even after Stanton, though the power hasn't been there, Rizzo has spent most of the year with an at least respectable average. Currently he's hitting league average. So one of the biggest offensive issues has been that their 6th hitter in the lineup has been league average to 15-20 points above average.

Yankees have played 7 less home games than Phillies as well. They are doing more on the road.

Yep, Yankees should be at the top. They overtook the Phillies as the team with the best record in MLB and have the best run differential. I also think the Guardians should be above the Dodgers.

The biggest nod to Soto over Judge for MVP - and it is early - is last year (before Soto) when Judge was down, the Yanks offense was down. This year, the offense was fine when Judge was less than Judge. Of course, Judge contributed with walks, etc. but the lineup is better, and it is because of Soto.

CBS Sports, what are you talking about Peter Alonso getting traded to the Houston Astros when both teams share practically and identical record how are you gonna call one team horrible and a seller also compare them to the White Sox and Rockies and then in the same breath call the Houston Astros buyers at the deadline like they’re going to make a run while being 7 1/2 out of their division and 8 games under 500 make that make sense

The Yankees are trash! They got on a little hot streak because of a weak schedule the last couple weeks! Wait til they face better teams in their schedule, then they'll be getting smacked up like when facing the Orioles
