In the Marines, we were fully dressed with everything on and jumping off the high dive board to assimilate as if we were jumping off a sinking ship.

I was in The U.S.Army in 1967 and we went to fort Poke, and with full combat gear we were in swamps with cotton mouths and gators, and mosquitoes so big they fly off with you. Then we all were shipped to Nam.just in time for Tet. Have fun!

I had a Special Duty assignment at FT Bragg in the 80's and was a Life Guard at one of the Base Pools 0500 Every day we had the 82nd guys jumping off the Hi Dive with Full uniforms, Boots and Ruck Sacks as part pf their training. Those were fun saves and we could not jump in after them until their NCO's felt it was appropriate.

I did this in the Mongol army in the year 1250. We jumped in with some armor, more weapons, and a bag full of our enemy’s skulls. You couldn’t even join the army if you didn’t already have a bag of skulls.

Now muscle memory will have them taking off their boots whenever they encounter water in combat

I'm a Desert Storm Marine. We were dumped upside down in a helicopter shell. Had to unbelt & get out. We were in full gear with boots on. Many panicked & had to be pulled up by rescue divers. We walked the high dive plank to simulate abandon ship height. Don't know what they are even trying to accomplish here? The army needs to leave the water for the Marines. We give the army the land we take to guard after we're done taking it from the enemy. They don't need to get wet. 😊

I was a Combat Water Survival Instructor in the USMC for 4 years. Exiting the pool using the rails was forbidden. Never seen a shallow water entry done like that.

Back in early 2000s in the Corps, you do it with full gear, vest, helmet, boots, backpack plus your rifle, also you need to keep the rifle above your head and "swim" across the pool, had quite trouble doing so.

I was navy, we jumped in fully clothed, then took our pants, shirts and shoes off while treading water. Every piece of clothing can be used as a life preserver.

Just went to basic last year and we had boots, rucks, helmets and did this all outside. That and the hose wasn’t some meek little garden hose it was like being power washed
