It's okay if you don't know the answer to a reporter's question. It's not okay to not be prepared for that moment.

In unfriendly interviews you not knowing the answer or providing an answer can actually become a story or fuel a story. In friendly interviews, the journalist may just be asking questions to vet their information with you which is great! You are the expert!
