There are 16, 000 drayage trucks in Los Angeles. If, as Andrew Lund says, each pollutes as much as 40 light-duty vehicles, then converting all the drayage trucks to ZEV is like converting half a million ICE cars!

Kinda surprised Gary Vasilash from Yanfeng Automotive Interiors was far more insightful than ur main guest Andrew Lund, Chief Engineer from Toyota. With how the Interiors and vehicles in general will have to adapt to mobitly centric model. Andrew Lund seemed more fixed on more mondain issue and his past work engineer minivans.

So pls have Gary Vasilash on again so we can ask him questions. Thx.

FYI Autoline, Nikola is not doing a battery semi, they are doing a fuel cell semi, like Toyota.

When you can refill hydrogen within 5 minutes who wants to wait for a battery powered to be recharged, especially for the semis.

A hydrogen semi will never be used willingly in the free market.

A semi drives ~45k mi/yr. At 6.5 mpg & $3/gal, that's over $20k/yr in fuel costs.
If that truck runs on hydrogen, it's ~$40k/yr in fuel costs, and no, the cost won't come down.

What truck driver will willingly pay $20k MORE each year and limit where they can work? OTOH, charging batteries off the grid will reduce their annual fuel costs to ~$8k/yr. Yes, it will limit where they can work as well, but at least with batteries, they will save $12k/yr.

Hydrogen is a scam, a boondoggle, and nothing but propaganda. Anyone who does even the most basic math & thermodynamics can easily prove that. If you want to break a story and be real journalists--report that. (But of course that would make the car companies upset & they'll stop giving you test drives & interviews.)

The self-driving Taxy will be one interior for 95% of the people, super cheap and durable interior and other for 5% that will be luxury.

"Battery and Hydrogen both have a place"... That's what the guys with the losing technology always say. Ask about cost per mile and cost of infrastructure.
