We've been saving for 2 years to buy a walk-in bath for my elderly mother, the council did remove her bath which she was unable to use and replaced it with a shower but the chair is a basic chair which she can't get up out of because of severe arthritis in both knees and frailty (she's 79).

I'm not sure why these are so often advertised as an "aid" for the infirm and elderly. I'm middle aged but still fully mobile - and I'd love one of these. The idea of a relaxing sit down while I shower or bath sounds wonderful (I assume you could have a shower over it?). If I just wanted to wash or soak my feet, I can just fill up the bottom bit and read a book. And as a bonus, they take up less room than a bath, freeing up space for storage/towel rails etc.

I'd like to see someone getting in, sitting and closing the door. Is there enough room to close the door without moving the legs sideways?
