Hello and welcome to Network Playroom! In this video, we're going to look at the differences between iBGP and eBGP neighbor relationships. I'll be using a very simple topology of two routers, R1 and R2, and I'll demonstrate the concepts on a GNS3 lab.

0:00 Introduction
0:37 Going over the topology
2:30 Configuring iBGP over directly connected interfaces and analyzing command output
9:16 Configuring iBPG over Loopback interfaces
11:21 Troubleshooting iBGP Loopback peering
16:54 Removing iBPG configuration
17:51 Configuring eBGP over directly connected interfaces and analyzing command output
21:03 Configuring eBPG over Loopback interfaces
24:04 Troubleshooting eBPG Loopback peering (directly connected check)
26:29 Default route with BGP
32:02 Verifying eBGP Loopback peering
32:36 Explaining problems with eBGP Loopback peering
34:33 Ending

Here's what we'll configure:

iBGP
1) iBGP using directly connected interfaces
2) iBGP using Loopback interfaces

eBGP
3) eBGP using directly connected interfaces
4) 4BGP using Loopback interfaces

Main points to focus on are the TTL values, the source IP address (update-source), the directly connected check, and the default route.

If you have questions, let me know in the comments.

Hi Riikka, why do we have to use a specific route instead of the default route? Could you explain again please?
