Changing O rings on a Jandy 3 way valve
Today I found a Jandy Stealth variable speed pool pump, that seemed to be sucking a lot of air. I quickly found the source of the problem being the Jandy 3-way valve right in front of the pump.
So we opened up the valve and changed the two stem o-rings on the valve.
Once that was complete the pump no longer sucked air. Pretty simple job to do you can do it as well.

Im a pool technician for over 17 years.
Good video and very important, the only thing I see wrong is the reinstalling of the screws, you are supposed to screw them one across from the other so that the valve goes down evenly.

Solid video, thanks. I visited Amazon for the o-ring kits on the Jandy valves... I'm also rebuilding my Hayward pump/impeller seals. Hopefully I'll eliminate the air entering my system. I replaced the large cartridge filter and that helped immensely with the filter pressure and pool flow but I was still seeing air get in... I suspect my old gray Jandy valve o-rings are worn, based on how neglected the filter cartridge looked. Learning as I go here in FL, retired from NY.

So helpful, I appreciate the time you took to make this for the novice DIYers such as myself!

my pool has been sucking air and not priming. I replace the pump, the filter. and it was still sucking air... not one person told me about this.... when I went to the pool store they said... make sure you check the check values too. Thanks for the instructions. CROSSING fingers that is the problem... I don't want to pay 300-500 for someone to come tell me something simple

If you have a Pentair valve - Pentair exploded diagram of their valve on their web site shows a small spacer that goes between the 2 small o-rings that go onto the shaft. I just did mine and sure enough, there is a spacer.

Nice job! Is it possible for a problematic 3-way valve to allow sucking air in one position, but work fine in another position? My system is having troubles holding a consistent pressure and there are lots of air bubbles from the jets, BUT ONLY when diverter valve is not in skimmer position.

Does the Jandy have a plastic spacer between the shaft O-Rings like Pentair?

If my cover is not marked, how do know the correct orientation to reinstall it correctly?

How did you determine that is what was wrong with this pool/system/plumbing?

I took the valve lid off and the screws stripped. Now they won't tighten. How do I fix that?
