That's not a TV, that's a computer monitor. Most smart TV's have extreme limitations on what you can connect to the USB port.

Likely running into issues with the tv recognizing the drive or playing back files. You didn't cover either of those things...

For everyone wondering. The problem with your TV not reading your hard drive is usually due to the format it is in. Refer online to what your TV needs in order to read such formats (e.g. Fat, or EXFat, or FAT32, for Sony, LG, or Samsung). Then if you have to, partition your harddrive if it doesn't work. I got mine working after I partioned 4G into 2x2GB. One for TV shows and one for movies. Can't wait to fill it all up.

i would need a USB-SATA data cable with a power supply to plug my SSD into my Samsung HDTV, which allows me to watch video, listen to audio, and view JPEG photos. I have such a cable, which powers my SSD drive which i use with my laptop. i have yet to use it on my HDTV, but i will tomorrow.
