Area of Parallelograms: Practice

This video continues with the idea of finding the area of a parallelogram by looking at example problems from the Khan Academy exercise linked below. A parallelogram is a 2 dimensional shape with 4 sides where the opposite sides are parallel to each other.

The general strategy for finding the area or finding out how much space the shape occupies is to transform the parallelogram into a rectangle since the area of a rectangle is the base multiplied by the height. The general formula for the area of a parallelogram is also the base multiplied by the height since parallelograms can always be transformed into rectangles.
