We live in the Midwest and our basement has a safe room. In there we have water and food and survival stuff stored in case of a tornado or something.

Here on the the gulf coast we have hurricane plans, but those give you lots of notice in advance of when evacuation is needed. Less urgency.

I have a bag packed with all my dogs essentials in the living room by all her toys and treats so I'd be able to grab some of those and put in the bag as well. I live where there are huge forest fires (there's one going on right now) so it's always good to be prepared just in case.

I have an emergency cage for my bearded dragon a leash for my cat, yes he likes walks, and three tiny portable cages for my turtle frog and hermit crab

Thankfully I live in a place without natural disasters. We might get a strong storm once in a while, but they're rarely strong enough to cause serious damage and never require evacuation.

So the only real emergency I can think of is fire or if something medically happened to me, like a serious injury or disease etc.
And in the case of fire, I can hopefully just open the door and let me and my cat escape and if I'm hospitalized I sure hope my family remembers my cat!
But hopefully neither of that happens and I can live without any major emergency :)

We picked up my dog as an abused stray (she had obviously been abused). She had a chip in her. We were all worried. But the chip was not registered so now it is our dog. And our chip too

Few pets save their owners occasionally at disasters, they are perfectly capable of handling themselves even if not trained, even though I DO prefer to train mine in most of this cases!:/
