Generally, the electrolytic capacitors fail on these old machines. The dielectric dries out over time. These machines cannot sit for 45+ years unused and properly survive. The caps need to be energized from time to time, or like an unused muscle, they atrophy. The transistors are probably okay.

Nice find, a true time capsule.
Low volume may be capacitors, but if it has never been used or very little, the Germanium Transistors may be faulty, Tin Whisker growth inside the transistor casing.
