The Classic and Vintage Commercial Show at Gaydon | Classic trucks & vans

My last visit to the Classic and Vintage Commercial Show held at the British Motor Museum at Gaydon was wayyyy back in 2009, so it was high time for a return trip down to J12 on the M40 to see what classic lorries and vans might be in attendance in 2023.
This is a two-day event, held in the area around the Gaydon museum building. Despite only being able to attend on the Saturday, which seems to be more of an unofficial arrivals and setup day, with the main show taking place on day two, there were still many interesting classic lorries and vans to take a close look at - not forgetting an extremely rare pre-war rear-engined Mercedes car that I was able to park alongside in the public car park!! A group of interesting Volvo road cars also make it into this upload, so fans of classic cars are will find something of interest in this video too, hopefully...
Highlights include a number of the two-stroke supercharged Commer TS3 lorries, various Dodge Kews, an immaculate Austin A40 van, a Ford Model BB truck, a Ford E88W panel van, many Bedfords, and a Vulcan lorry to name just a few. ... plus two fly-bys of a twin-tailed Beech Expeditor from 1952.
A walkaround of the main British Motor Museum will follow in a separate future video.

Great vid OCC ....back in the early 80's, due to lack of time and an immediate need for a van, I had to ''walk away'' from a deal for a Volvo Duett van -something I've always regretted.

FWIW that van was fitted with an overdrive and limited slip differential.

Great start. I knew the model of the Mercedes only because I have the book on Mercedes otherwise not. That is such a rare car and in beautiful condition as well. It looks very fresh and if I owned it I would not have had the bravery to put it in a car park!

Indeed Hell Drivers is a great old black and white 1957 movie with great driving and a great cast too.

With regard to the old wooden frame lorry cabs, Atkinson had cabs built of fibre glass with a wooden frame right up to 1974. When Atkinson merged with Seddon around that time that was the end of the fibre glass cabs. Im not sure if any other manufacturers carried on with these cabs any later than that. Only cabs of that type that I drove were a Guy Warrior and also a few Atkinson 's. The heat and noise on the inside was very bad especially when they were working hard. Constantly overloaded in Ireland at the time. Good old days, not much money but great craic.
