Leaders discuss need for health facilities in Northern Uganda

The district councils in the three sub regions of Lango, Acholi and West Nile have held the first ever joint council meeting at the funeral of the former Speaker of Parliament Jacob Oulanyah.

The resolutions of the council were unanimously adopted by the over 200 leaders of the respective councils.

The first resolution dealt with the suspension of some provisions of the rules of procedure of the local government councils to allow the presence of armed personnel guarding the high profile officials, and the sitting arrangement according to political party affiliation.

They unanimously adopted a motion that proposed holding an annual joint council meeting, construction of district health centres in places without one, amending article 82 of the constitution that provides for the immediate election of the Speaker of Parliament and the need for government to allow the local governments to utilize the collected revenue.
