Climate change could move "into uncharted territory" if temperatures don't fall by the end of the year, a leading scientist has told the BBC.

The warning came as data showed last month was the world's warmest March on record, extending the run of monthly temperature records to 10 in a row.

It's fuelled concerns among some that the world could be tipping into a new phase of even faster climate change.

A weather system called El Niño is behind some of the recent heat.

It seems to me that the climate change debate has stopped being a debate.

Hottest March on record 😂😂😂😂. My heating bill will tell me how "hot" March was as that doesn't lie to me.

As one who has chest problems because of having breathed in petrol and diesel fumes for 66 years. I wouldn’t wish being permanently ill because of the fumes we produce with our cars and vehicles.

It was warm in March because the wind came from the South.
Its not the warmest ever if you look at the past, rather than last week.
The Sumerians had it the warmest so they could bake their clay tablets. it was a bit cooler for the Vikings and cooler again for the Romans. Here's us even cooler at the bottom of the graph wearing duvets as coats and thermal socks, being told its the warmest ever by the BBC which is misinformation.

The BBC, by ceasing all broadcasts, could help massively to reduce the global carbon footprint.

Shouldn't global warming affect the globe? Yet I look out of my window in Scotland and have seen nothing but rain for 6 months.

Sea levels have not risen they are still the same as 100 years ago, you do realise bbc not everyone is foolish and blind a lot of us actually research what is true and what is not, and more people wake up to these false narratives everyday, which is why soon when everyone switches off from your station you will be gone and we will all cheer 🎉
