I'm trying out something new. I just had the strongest memory of childhood and I thought, what better way to indulge this nostalgia than via YouTube. So here is my first 80s emersion video, about the long forgotten book series "Choose Your Own Adventure."

OMG I loved those books as a boy and recently got back into them. I check YouTube to see if anyone is talking about them and boom! Mr. Reagan! Awesome!

Ahh, the good ol’ 80s, when Ronald Reagan was the president

I loved those books as a kid. Good to see you tackle something new (or old in this case). haha!

I loved these books and having been born in 1970, I love anything 80s! I read these books as well and I remember them being some of my favorites. I hope you will do some more videos like this!

I like it. Mix up the video types. It doesn't all have to be serious.
I had a bunch of those books as a kid, and lots more from the library.
If you played it straight you'd close the book, turn to the the page you chose and go. But you could hedge your bet and leave your finger marking the choice page and go back to find out what happened with the other choice.
That way you could read the whole book but I'd quickly run out of fingers marking decision points.

I loved these as a young kid. I started collecting them again myself, as well as the D&D Endless Quest books, which you might enjoy.

Joe Dever's Lone Wolf books! Choose your own adventure combined with a bit of role play elements. Artwork inspired me to be an artist!

I would highly suggest the "Fighting Fantasy" series of game books. Possibly the "Lone Wolf" game books that use a ten sided dice. Both are great.

I’m super late to this vid but I’ve just started writing my own choose your own adventure stories and came looking for inspiration. Fun vid! If you’re still wondering, the tense these books were written in is ‘second person’ . It’s not common but I’ve seen a few meditation-style self help books do it :)

The choose your own story concept has had a resurgence online.

I have begun re-collecting The Hardy Boys. I hope to pass the adventure on to my own kids.

So neat to see this side of you Mr. Reagan. I can see your inner child come out. Haha

EXCELLENT video! Gives me a lot to "chew" on. I had never thought of culture being like a parental figure, but it is SO TRUE ! Thanks, Mr. Reagan....

Not your usual Mr. Reagan video. But I like it. Tuesday morning entertainment. PaperBack video games. Way better than the Mexican-American trade agreement... Thanks Mr. Reagan!

Write a choose-your-own-story book called "Socialism" where every choice is made for you, and all end in starvation and genocide.

I love Choose Your Own Adventure books. I managed to find a site that had the old Lone Wolf series a while back, and I downloaded them for my kindle. It's the perfect format for that. You just click the link to get to the next part. I've even considered writing some myself. I've written a few novels (that maybe a hundred people have read). I wonder what kind of unusual things I could come up with. Setting a choose your own adventure in modern times with some hapless shlub who happens upon an alien plot might be a real fun read.

I like the detour in your videos. This was a pleasant little trip.
I'll sometimes re-read A Wrinkle In Time or Anne of Green Gables - and it's incredible how the atmosphere in my mind's eye will shift into the dusty slideshow of my childhood.
If you look over some of the TV shows from the 80's - Political Observations are tough to avoid. It's hard not to notice how 'progressive' most shows were - like The Love Boat, Different Strokes, Fresh Prince, Fat Albert, Golden Girls, Bosom Buddies, The Facts of Life, Roseanne, Murphy Brown, Cagney and Lacey, M*A*S*H*, The Jeffersons, St Elsewhere... I mean geez. EVERYONE was pretty much 'represented' quite well back then. Women and Blacks in lead roles... Gays, Cross Dressers, Older Women, Hispanics in many series. Even Alines LOl (Mork! Nanoo Nanoo) Our generation (I'm way older than you!) wasn't raised on racist propaganda or politically correct crap either. It was an 'aware' time, but much less divisive in the media!
