The Unnecessary Fall of Freddie Gibbs

Having emerged from obscurity in Gary, Indiana, Freddie Gibbs has been rhyming since the days when he was a self-proclaimed Baby Face stepper. Courtesy of his adept flows, exquisite pen and collaborative albums with production legends like Madlib and The Alchemist, Freddie’s hard work has finally begun to pay off after rapping for 15+ years.

Where a record like Pinata was an underground classic, Alfredo scored him his first Grammy nomination, and just two years on, he released what was his long-awaited major label project, Soul Sold Separately, scoring his highest charting performance in the process when the record landed at number 11.

But, unfortunately for Freddie Gibbs, it feels like that from the very moment that he landed at this newfound height, it could all be snatched away at any moment amid a steady stream of self-sabotage from the man himself.

Its weird, none of Freddie's scandals affect my opinion on his music. I still really enjoy his catalog. I don't know, maybe it's just me.

Freddie just made another amazing album he hasn't fell off 🤷🏻

we've been so conditioned to jump from content to content as consumers that internet bullshit beefs don't affect artists that much anymore. Especially if the music is still good. Freddie hasn't missed yet for a long time musically. he'll still have a fanbase if that stays the same.

He been rapping like that since late 2000s and the 10s

As an artist, this man takes all the W's. Flawless rapper, flawless flow, unbelievable story telling and certificated bangers. But he does takes L's alot. As a huge fan of Freddie, his music is legendary. So really, why does it matter what he does outside of music?

It's not his first time in a situation like this, and surely not his last. He has already come back from worst situations around 2017 and since then he has been as consistent as possible with Bandana, Alfredo and so on. Fake or not it doesn't matter now, this ain't the 90s to be fact-checking if someone sold snow or if he's fronting about it.

Freddie won't ever fall off if he still make fire albums

This whole piece reeks of desperation. Yeah, keeping Benny's name in his mouth like that probably wasn't a good idea, and he shouldn't have gone out on his turf after that, but Gibbs's actions in that physical confrontation were what anyone would've done in his shoes. He's still a man. The DJ Akademiks and Destini stuff is just petty.

Freddie one of the most consistent rappers right now. Last 3 albums were great. He is in no way falling off.

Just because a 3 IQ teletubby DJ is trying to ride his career for clout, doesn’t mean Freddie has fallen. The man has put out classic after classic with great beats and rhymes.

u got to be confused to think gibbs is in any position TO fall off. bro is a successful 40 year old rapper w nothing to prove in the studio other than the fact that he CAN and WILL continue to improve/generate classics well after what was supposed to be his prime in the game

yall sound like tmz lol, gettin pressed in other cities is nothing new to anybody w the type of clout gibbs carries. now he doesnt look great gettin thrown around and shit, but this is what you get when you are a 40 year old who is secure in himself to the degree he does around w.o security or shooter

If we're talking music, if we're talking rapping, you can't name me 5 active acts better than Gibbs. I leave the goofy shit where it's at. I'm a fan of the artist, I don't know the man. Salaam...✊🏾
