I wish I could still hear Collin on the radio, but I catch him here. His music has truly touched the deepest areas of my heart. I had "she's gonna fly" played at my mom's funeral. My husband and I have been through a lot, but we've survived it all somehow. One of my favorite songs is "Survivors" because we have made it and continue to. I have some surgical scars, but more that are self inflicted as a way to put out a fire created by mental illness and unresolved rage over several things. I don't have it so much these days, but I still listen to Collin for his amazingly calm voice. I caught a concert in a small venue in Des Moines Iowa in '98, and in '08 I made a long trek to Arkansas for a week's "party" known as Collinfest. That was so much fun, meeting others who love Collin as much as I do. His songs hit me square in the heart.

This song gives a person a lot to think about. We've all got scars, seen and unseen, and all of those scars affect how we see, experience, and respond to everything we do and that happens to us. Everybody else has 'em too, with the attendant effects on them coloring their reactions. I'm beginning to wonder if it's possible to do anything without inflicting more scars on everybody I meet. God forgive me. I don't think anybody else can.
