These wazees are political brokers formed for the sole purpose of campaigning for Uhuru. They are a breakaway of the traditional Kikuyu Council of elders and their ceremonies do not quite rhyme with those of the council. Most of their leaders are Uhuru's relatives and they are directly funded by the president. Women also have a similar outfit where Mama Ngina and her daughter Nyokabi belong. The members do not necessarily have to have attained all the mandatory graduation steps.
