For years I've been trying to grow it; last spring I nearly succeeded, but some animal ate the vine and the seed didn't show any more growth.
We are in autumn now, today I got freshly harvested seeds and I'll LEAVE THEM IN A COOL PLACE WITHOUT DIRECT SUNLIGHT, hoping that they will have developed vines when spring comes. I think this was a really good and helpful information. Wish me luck, please!

My dad is obsessed with growing chokos but has been unsuccessful so I’m going to try to grow them for him once I rebuild our gardens in our new house. Thanks Yan!

You are a fantastic TEACHER. I truly enjoyed your Chayote tutorial. Well done !
I was just looking at my monsters today having only learned one recipe from a Guatamalan
lady some 40 years ago now, it is prepared by first parboiling then peeling& slicing & dipping
in egg batter that can also be rolled in panko bread crumbs & sautéd & is really delish,
I didn't know much else about it but thanks to you now I am well edumacated now !
Now in Australia & inspite of being up in the GreatDividing Range & a few nights down to 6 degrees
the leaves are still full & green & the fruit getting larger by the day.
I didn't know to leave them as long as is possible for best results.
Thank you again lovely lady for sharing your knowledge & green thumb !

My supermarket choko sprouted today. I hope it will grow out. We have 4-5 mos of warm weather, so I’m hoping it will produce enough to dehydrate and share with others. Great video, new sub!

Thank you so much for your insights!! I have been growing these lovely veggies for years on and off, sometimes with more affluent success than others. But only ever the green one! i have been looking for the white variety, but so far, no luck here in Perth! Maybe some one in Perth reads this, and surprises me with the wonderful news that they have some for

Thank you so much for this video, I am so very pleased to come across it because I haven't seen any information about how to grow Chayote and this video is so in-depth it has lots of information that I think even I can get this to grow. I want to grow it because it is not available in my Country that I have seen and I am on a Keto diet and miss my apple pie this fruit has all the right textures to replace apples, So much appreciated.

What an excellent video! Thank you❤️ Chokos are underrated in my opinion, am learning more each year about how versatile they are. My very first chutney/pickle I had was a choko pickle...omg good! Have been hooked ever since and found a recipe for it a few years ago and have been making it since. My partner now loves this pickle also and has it on request. Hevised to wonder why i would eat 'a weed' lol.We can't not have a vine of it in my backyard now... it's a keeper for sure ❤
