TCS has updated its variable pay policy to include work from office as a crucial factor. The revised policy, which was implemented shortly after the company's quarterly results, has four attendance slabs that determine the variable pay for employees.
According to the new policy, employees who work from office for less than 60% of the time will not receive any variable pay for the quarter.

Travelling to office with waste of time in traffic and cafeteria and working with someone who is sitting in another location via teams does not make any sense.

Worst company to work with. I used to bare all of the rules from TCS, but this work from office is killing me. I need to travel 70 kms daily and wasting 5 hrs in travelling. 5 hrs going totally unproductive. Hats off to TCS for bringing in these pathetic rules and asking employees to resign indirectly.

Infosys is setting up a 11 days a month WFO policy and TCS on the other hand is linking Variable pay to WFO. I guess the newly appointed CEO of TCS misunderstood the meaning of Attrition Rate and wants it to go up😂

Unfortunately i am working in this nonsense company. They already gave me bad rating by saying that my attendance was low in the month of November. My salary hike has been rupees 500 per month and my future promotion stopped.

It makes no sense to continue. i am leaving

TCS pays peanuts as a salary, mostly people do courses and starts leaving TCS. Also most of the TCS management knows only one thing macro management, they don't have to learn any new things. When people are doing WFH they don't have any work. This policy is to satisfy their ego rather then any business benefit, when employee wfh productivity and efficiency is really improved, but these old guys won't understand.

So basically Hitler Raj has eye on your savings instead of getting work done. This means that you can talk to client remotely from office but not from home... Moreover, these companies get projects from overseas themselves in India to deliver services remotely. Why they don't send employees to those foreign customer's premises. What hypocrisy !!

Monthly an IT employee can save
Money: 20 to 40k (including rent and travel)
Time: 2 to 3 hours
Life: with out accidents (exception case)
Variable pay is less than the above value .

WFH is good for avoiding traffic, saving money, spending time with family .. Unnecessary talk is avoided and people are more focused in WFH ..

I am fine with it, not receiving next salary hike for 1 appraisal cycle (which has an upper bound of 10% for most people) and/or not getting variable pay (if under 10%) is actually a good deal against having to shift to a city where more than 10-15% goes towards rent and the traffic hassle juices out everyone. It gets better as much customizable it is. It can be perceived as a tailor-made solution where employee chooses the office percentage from 10% to 100% with reduction in salary from 20% to 0% as per the choice they make.
