This pub in London is closing after 200 years in business.

Despite a campaign to save this historic landmark, The Old Swiss Cottage pub closed this month. Designed in the style of a Swiss chalet, it had stood in northwest London since 1830. The nearby Swiss Cottage Tube station, built in 1868, was named after the pub.

The Old Swiss Cottage is one of 3,000 pubs and bars that have closed in London since the pandemic.

It was a tourist trap. The service in here was shocking and the staff didn't care as it never got repeat custom. That's fine; but then TripAdvisor arrived and its fate was sealed. So it's a good news story really, we demand better. Good pubs will always survive.

I've been in it few times. It was nice and relaxed. I'm surprised the nearby Royal Central School of Speech and Drama hasn't bought it as its students are some of the pub's most frequent customers.

Samuel Smiths beers. Cheap is it gets but they pay their managers peanuts and work them like dogs. The Brewery has a lot of the key sites in London as they’ve been in the family for years. They own 90% of the property in the town where the brewery is (Tadcaster) and they dictate what you can and can’t sell if you want to rent one of the shops. Brewery staff who live in tied cottages weren’t allowed satellite dishes a few years ago. It’s a strange old place

I don't drink. I don't do pubs. This closure is tragic for those that do drink and go to pubs. Pubs are part and parcel of British life and in some communities, the very heart of those communities. Too many pubs are closing.

@regarding the negativity @1:57:57 this is so true. I started listening to more of my parents music in the evening. Some pattie label, Michael Jackson.

It has made me softer and more friendly and open. A lot of music today was making me angry and depressive. I also just bought the Cosby show collection. I've been watching that non stop. If you had your teachings on Spotify, I wouldnt even need to check my Youtube.

There is energy in our ears and mind. I have come to accept there are so. THERE are so many things I don't need to know.

I also started reading books by Black american philosphers form the 1950's.
