There is a lot of finger pointing among lawmakers regarding who is responsible for rising energy prices. At a hearing this week, executives of 6 large oil and gas companies defended themselves against criticisms that they are seeking to boost corporate profits at the expense of consumers. Republicans called the House hearing with the gas and oil executives nothing more than a dog and pony show by Democrats as they blame high gas prices on the Biden Administration's regulations and environmental policies. At the hearing, oil and gas executives defended their actions, claiming they are not engaging in price gouging, only responding to global commodity prices that are out of control. Michael Wirth, President and CEO of Chevron Corporation stated, "We do not control the market price of crude oil, natural gas nor of refined products like gasoline and diesel fuel. And we have no tolerance for price gouging." Senator James Lankford says President Biden is trying to manipulate the market and suggests reopening the Keystone Pipeline with Canada. Capitol Hill Correspondent, Erik Rosales reports.
