Yes. I fully agree. If South Indians are expected to learn Hindi, why can't we North Indians enrich ourselves with the wonderful languages of South India.?

It will be difficult no doubt for grown ups, but it is not impossible.

Native language + English would be a better option.

As North Indian, I always feel that South Indian hate us but now I'm in a relationship with tamilian boy, he made me aware that not every South Indian hate North Indians. And now I started learning tamil and he started learning hindi by this we made relationship even stronger.

It's all about respect and accept each other.

Why do people have to fight over language?! These south Indian politicans are no different from the ones in north India. North indian politicans spread communal hatred and south Indian politicians spread regional and linguistic hatred.

"Hindi" has Similarities with only Northern Indian Languages. But Sanskrit as similarities with Northern, Western, Southern and Eastern Indian languages, i.e. all Indian Languages. Sanskrit is the best language we have available to be used as the common Link Language.

As a north Indian I've never seen any north Indian so called imposing 'hindi' on others. We are not hyper sensitive about our languages, south people are. And yes, we will learn just two languages: hindi and english.. South literally has 5+ languages, and all of them are very very different from hindi..and what's the need after all. Speak your own languages and be happy.

If we start learning each others languages it will never end because there are 22 official languages and 100+ unofficial languages in India.

*Let's make it simple, your mother tongue + English as a link language, so that you can not only communicate within India but also with rest of the world.*
