One of my favorite life-hacks:

If you have silver jewelry or real silverware, you're probably familiar with the brown tarnish that will collect on them over time, and by exposure to air and skin. Unfortunately, silver tarnish removers are nasty and foul-smelling chemicals that require scrubbing off the tarnish, usually also removing some precious silver in the process. But did you know that you can remove all that tarnish in moments, with stuff I guarantee you have in your cupboard, using the power of chemistry?

Simply place a sheet of aluminum foil (shiny side up) at the bottom of a flat shallow glass container like a cake pan. Place your silver items onto the foil, making sure they're touching it but not each other. Bring eight cups of water and a spoonful of baking soda to a boil, and carefully pour the mixture into the container, deep enough to cover the silver items. In only a few seconds, a chemical reaction will cause the tarnish atoms to form a solution in the water, and become electrically attracted to the aluminum. The silver items will be left shiny and new, no scrubbing or harsh chemicals required.

Wash your potatoes and put them in a plastic grocery bag. tie the handles closed and microwave the bag with any writing on the bag facing up. The potatoes will bake in minutes compared to boiling or baking in a regular oven. Poke the potato with your finger from outside the bag to test for doneness.
