What hearing loss sounds like, Part IV

Показать описание
People with high frequency hearing loss literally cannot hear pitches that you can. They might be walking arond not hearing bird songs, the turn signal of the car, or even the sounds of floorboards creaking below their feet. If you are their partner or family or friend, be gentle with them. They can be trying hard to hear you but lack control over what they can't hear. Hearing devices will help, but not necessarily restore volume /clarity to what you and I know as "normal."

Follow for more ear gems.

I think it’s great what you’re doing. Seems you’re going above and beyond the normal scope of just a “normal doctor’s duties” nice to see for a change

Can you explain why I hear sounds behind me so much clearly than in front of me? Even if people are whispering from several feet back I can hear their conversation. Or if they are below me like in a basement I can hear them. I still hear people in front of me clearly if I want to but it’s easier to block out noise in front of me. It’s hard to explain but I’m just curious.
