Starmer labels Sunak “inaction man” over his record on China

Rishi Sunak refused to commit the Conservatives to maintaining the pensions triple lock after the next election, as he was challenged by MPs in the Commons.

The prime minister said the Tories were the “one party” that had “always stood up for our pensioners” but pointedly declined to confirm that the policy would remain in place after the next general election.

Ministers have repeatedly cast doubt on the long-term future of the policy in recent days, even while promising it would be retained over the next year.
