Hello, I am Gergo Boros, a Ph.D. student from Liberty University. I live in the Seattle-WA state in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. For the Local History Research course, I chose a topic from my home state, by the Pacific Northwest Tribe Wars. Many of us never considered it, but there were also many fights and wars between local natives and white men. I am going to give you some facts about these wars.

The federal government recognizes almost 30 tribes in Washington state. These tribes are the Colville, Jamestown, Nisqually, Chehalis, Cowlitz, S’Klallam, Lummi, Puyallup, Samish, Suiattle, Lower Elwha, and Muckleshoot.1 Other recognized tribes include Shoatlwater Bay, Skokomish, Quinault, Quileute, Hoh, Kalispel, Sauk-Suiattle, Nooksack, and Port Gamble S'Klallam.2 The Pacific Northwestern and Plateau Indian Wars emerged when prospectors and explorers found gold there. As a result, war erupted in the region while the Indians and the prospectors conflicted over gold acquisition. The United States Army involved themselves in Spokane in 1858, the Rogue River, and the Yakima wars of 1855 to 1856. The wars were actions to force tribes onto reservations in the eastern regions of Washington and Oregon.
